The Problem:
Pregnancy and early motherhood are wonderful but stressful times for a woman. There are numerous physical, emotional and even chemical stresses on pregnant women and mothers that may be causing or contributing to back pain, headaches, fatigue, loss of sleep, and much, much more. In addition, children’s needs are often neglected when it comes to this kind of preventive healthcare. If you perceive chiropractors to simply be relievers of pain, then this oversight is understandable. However, the perception of chiropractors as simply pain doctors could not be farther from the truth. Chiropractic adjustments can help children just as they can help adults. When your nervous system experiences stress, it adversely affects your quality of life. We believe that people are literally dying as a result of stress, and nervous system stress in particular! We want to help.
What Is Our Solution?
We aim to ease the pains and stresses of pregnancy, motherhood, and life in general by gently adjusting the spine, restoring function, dissipating nervous system stresses and allowing you to navigate the stressful waters of life a little more easily. No system of your body is more critical to your health than your nervous system, and no health practitioner is better suited to relieve stress on the nervous system than a chiropractor. In fact, chiropractic offers solutions for every phase of potential pregnancy-related problems.
The earliest problem may be infertility. According to the CDC, the number of married women ages 15-44 that are infertile (unable to get pregnant for at least 12 consecutive months) is 2.1 million (1). Research shows chiropractic care can help with infertility problems (2). If your infertility is a result of pelvic or vertebral misalignments, there is no question that chiropractic is the answer.
Chiropractic can also help to gently assist breech babies in turning to a head-down position. The Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics reported in the July/August 2002 issue that 82% of doctors using the Webster Technique reported success. Numerous case studies on this technique have also demonstrated its validity (3).
Proper spinal and pelvic alignment can help with back pain during pregnancy and even labor itself.
Next, there are post-partum issues such as depression and neck pain (from breastfeeding, or even bottle feeding) for the mother, and difficulty “latching on” and colic for the infant. Chiropractic can help with these.
Early childhood brings even more potential chiropractic-related problems such as falling while learning to walk, recurrent ear infections, and even vaccination issues. In fact, evidence suggests that many adult problems have their origins in childhood and that there may be a relationship between these adult conditions and a subluxated spine and pelvis from early childhood (4). No matter where you see yourself or your children along this timeline, chiropractic can help. Take your health to a whole new level with regular and frequent chiropractic care!
Chiropractic is for Everyone:
We believe that chiropractic wellness care is a vital part of a healthy lifestyle. But, nobody should go broke trying to stay healthy. In addition, we should not rely on or expect insurance companies to pay for wellness care. They might as well be asked to pay for toothpaste, running shoes, and vitamins. This idea is unrealistic and violates the very meaning of the word insurance. For this reason we have adopted a pay by donation system that individuals and families can use to make chiropractic wellness care affordable. We specialize in prenatal and pediatric chiropractic care, but chiropractic is for everyone! We enjoy helping entire families to stay as healthy as possible in stressful times.
